Mara (they/them) is a queer artist, imaginatrix and community organizer born and raised by the mangroves in Miami. As a clinician and grassroots TJ practitioner, Mara has studied curanderismo, relationship to plant(cestors) and circle keeping across borders, bringing a decolonial and Indigenous-centered praxis to mediation work. They believe that embodied and restorative practices guide people towards unlocking their own power, fueling collective dreaming, and pushing us towards freedom. They have run mutual aid networks, peer support groups at SWOPLA, popular education with LA Tenants Union and POCPC, DIY encuentros/conferences and more, in efforts to facilitate decolonizing spaces. Mara celebrates diasporic dance music on their dublab radio show, Discoteca 3ala Mars. They currently live on Tongva land in East Los Angeles.
