Director of Membership, North America

Association For Electronic Music (AFEM)

Alyssa Vera is a seasoned music industry professional with over a decade of experience spanning industry relations, communications, events, and technology. Her career has bridged the major label system, the independent sector, and the music tech space, providing her with a deeply comprehensive understanding of the recorded music ecosystem.  At A2IM, Alyssa represented more than 700 independent record labels and music businesses across North America. She worked closely with executives from the largest indie companies, relaying their needs to the Board of Directors and helping shape the organization’s priorities. This role gave her a wide-angle view of the independent landscape, working with companies of all genres, geographies, and size.  Alyssa has contributed to the launch of innovative music tech products, including one of the earliest smart link and pre-save tools for digital streaming. She has built onboarding programs for international clients, designed outreach and retention strategies, and is known for her ability to communicate new technologies with clarity and empathy.  Her background also includes large-scale record releases and digital marketing campaigns for artists such as Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Avicii, Afrojack, Fall Out Boy, and The Killers. She brings deep experience in project management and internal communications.  Creating community and building parity in the music industry have always been at the heart of Alyssa’s work. She is passionate about educating the industry on climate change and sustainable business practices. She is proud to be a founding board member of Music Declares Emergency US and has worked with other music charities and non-profit organizations including The Recording Academy, HeadCount, Sweet Relief, DJs for Climate Action, and Stax Music Academy.  Alyssa is also a passionate vinyl enthusiast, DJ, and collector. She founded and leads F-Emme, an all-womxn record collective focused on empowering women in DJ culture and fostering spaces for new music discovery. While her professional experience spans all genres, she has deep roots in electronic and dance music - having attended shows since her teenage years when she’d sneak into the city while still living at her parents’ house.  Explore her work and portfolio: https://alyssavera.my.canva.site/
